As far as I know they are the same, 1.4 VVTi, 1.4 D4D, 1.6 VVTi and 2.0 D4D all use the same type of rear suspension. Maybe some specific twiks for each model I would say but maybe now even that.

As above there are small differences in 1.4 1.6 etc but basiscally the same, the T180 is a double wishbone jobby and completely different. There are differences to Jap and UK built too!

i have a 2.0 d4d and was wondering if its possible to change it for t180 setup as there is one in the breakers and i might be able to get it at a reasonable price.

would it be worth putting on the t180 bits

The boot floor is different on the T180 auris as it doesnt have a spacesaver like the lower spec models do.

I dont think you will get the T180 stuff onto your car.

There is no difference at all. In our garage sits 2,2 and 1,6 and the spare wheel well is similar, Toyota has just left or forgotten wheel away and thrown some el cheapo chinese compressor there instead. Toyota isn't Ferrari, they use same parts in many models. Even fuel tank is same tiny can, multilink allows much bigger tank, but why re-design. Rear brakes are bigger in 2,2 and that could be a problem.

Multilink is amazing compared to standard. Absolutely.

I have to agree with Jukeli here on both issues, multilink is much better it makes the car much safer and the handling will also change a lot. You won't have "tricky rear slides anymore". Also I don't think there should be any difference in both cars I would like to know why didn't Toyota put multilink in all cars maybe to sell more DCATs (T180) maybe? But I think if you do this outside a Toyota shop (as I think you want to do do the costs) can be risky. It's a new car does the person know exactly what he is doing? even in toyota I would have doubts. Suspension and transmission are two very particular items that require patient and know how in the tunning.

Well thats me wrong then, i always thought the boot floor was different on the T180's , never really paid much attention to it though.

Will take a look at them side by side tomorrow if i remember.

Exhaust is also different to the T180 so you may also need this to clear the rear links etc.
