2002 190 Badged As T Sport?

Hello, I am new to the forum.

I have a question and I'm sure one of the experts can advise me on this...

I have a Celica 190 registered Feb '02 and it is badged as a TSport. It doesn't have traction control, embossed seats or 17 inch alloys (Think they are part of the TSport?), but does have automatic climate, sunroof, leather, upgraded stereo.

My question is why is it badged as a Tsport? The previous owner didn't rebadge it (as far as I know)

Hmm, if it's a 190 then I'd say someone has stuck the Badge on.

I found some info with the differences between the original 190 and the newer T sport somewhere, but can't find it now. I know the T sport replaced the 190 model though.

Up until the autumn of 2002 the 190 and T Sport were both offered in the UK. It's possible your car is an import, does it have a factory fitted Alarm? If not, yours is definitely an import and you need to notify your Insurance Co. immediately as you may not have Cat 1 security. If stolen, you may not be covered!!

So from when were they both offered in the uk? Because I was sure the T sport wasn't available straight away, and you could only get the 190 to start with.

But yours defo ain't a UK T sport, because like you say it would have the T sport seats, 17" alloys and traction.

Well that's good news as it sounds like a UK Car :)

As to your original question re the TS Badge, it sounds like only one person will know the answer.

As regards #4, AFAIK, the Gen 7 history is as follows:

1999..140 introduced

2000..190 introduced

2001..TS introduced

2002..all models face lifted and 190 discontinued.

Just to add.... the prefacelift TS would have come as standard with the two tone leather seats, and the full dynamic pack kit... front lip, sideskirts, rear spoiler and eye lid covers, but no traction control (which came with the facelift)

I think all 190's and TS come with the the automatic climate.

So the post facelift didn't have side skirts I'm guessing cause mine hasn't got them (2003 model). And what are the eye lid covers?

i have a 2001 190 model. 17" alloys, sony stereo, automatic climate, two tone leather (black/grey), rear spoiler, factory fitted alarm and no traction and no front lip spoiler. BUT................

log book say Celica 190 sport ????

sorry to hijack thread, but i dont think even toyota dealers know exactly whats what, especially my local stealer :) they've never heard of a pre face lift T sport

Its complicated isn't it. My log book says its a 190 TSport aswell

We might get to the bottom of this one day. I will keep trying to find the answers :D
