This is for everyone that has had water leaking into their car from around the doors.

Yesterday information came my way that the nice Mr Toyota is going to or has just issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) regarding this serious problem

I was told that letters will be coming out, obviously to owners who bought new cars, to maybe recall them to have this issue cleared up.

Fingers crossed for you all, my daughter included, that the new parts will cure the problems

Stay patient and don't badger the dealer just yet.... I'll update you as to when my daughter gets her letter

To all those who have this problem :

May i suggest to all of you that albeit it sounds bad to have water leaks, other car manufacturers have troubles of their own too ----- far worse than this!!

A friend of mine had a terrible crash with his brand new opel astra directly in a traffic pole :

Result ? His car was totally damaged & worst of all : no airbags deployed!! How about that??!!!

I have to ask.... What on earth does this have to do with leaking Aygos

mine does not leak, maybe its because it is LHD, or something, but I dont have such problems :)

Kindly define LHD please :D

LHD = Left Hand Drive. It's for people who drive on the wrong side of the road ;)

It's the other way around :D

But LDH vs. RHD does not seem to matter; both can develop leaks,

at least on my LHD (driven on the righthand side of the road) I've

had two doorseals replaced allready, one of them for leaking...

I've never had a leak in mine and I drive on the proper side of the road

I always find it quite strange that we've all got the same car, made in the same factory and yet some have leaky seals and some don't. If it was a problem that they can locate to certain VINs or cars produced between x-date and x-date only, then I can understand a recall, but for sporadic problems... I'm not sure they can send letters out to every Aygo owner - it will just cause panic when in some cases, it's not worth bothering about.

The way I see it, why should they send me a letter when I'm not affected - its a waste of paper and resources for a start. Surely they should investigate the cases first and find out who is affected and then recall those, rather than all.

Yes........ that would be lovely! They've been investigating mine for a year now, along with many others. I should consider yourself lucky. Toyota are welcome to waste all the paper they like writing to those similar to you, as long they fix the problem for the rest of us.

Several TSB have already been issued;

-One is for water leaking through the rear passenger window (inproper channeling),

-one for the front door seals (which are now a new design and glued into place)

-and one for the rear tail hatch seal (which seems to be caused by the glass flexing)

I doubt there will be a recall because the safety issue (that would get lots of negative PR) is not really affected. All the TSB state that the TSB should only be carried out if the problem exists on the particular car and that the replacement/modified seals shouldn't just be fitted as a matter of course. You will still need to badger the dealer. The TSB's aren't published and open to the public

However, Mr T is quite practiced at sorting this problem out now.
