Celica Sometimes Won't Start - Help Needed

Hello

Recently my 1998 Celica GT has been causing me a few problems when starting, when the key is turned in the ignition there is a loud click and all the electrics turn off then there is a quiet beep for 5 or so seconds.

I don't know whether this is too with the relays or a bad conection to the Battery but all i have to do to fix the problem is open the bonnet and then it starts normally.

I'm confused has anyone else had this problem? could you help please?

Thanks Craig

if it clicks constantly id say the starter contacts in the solonoid are heavily pitted and will need replacing

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

Its not i continuous click, it sounds like i fuse popping or a switch turning off. It only happens when its cold aswell. Im gonna check the Battery connections today but im still confused to how just opening the bonnet seems to reset it?

thanks
