Just bought a new 1.4 D Aygo (no rev meter of course) i can see by some of the pics you guys have that you've installed the rev meter's as an addition,

do you get this done by toyota? and if so how much are we talking?

B) Thanks

Not sure about the Diesel version, especially in a RHD setup, but you might want to take a look at a ScanGauge II.

This will probably be less expensive and will give you more than just a revcounter...

It's the same as the on on the Citroen C1 HDI. You can buy it direct from citroen for about £130. If the redline is higher than 5000rpm you've bought the wrong one Fitting is the same as for the petrol rev counter. Unscrew silver dash clock surround, lift of clock housing and cut away rectangular piece to accommodate to rev counter. Attach the rev counter to it's mount and connector and replace the dash pieces. Citroen parts usually come with instructions

I also got my scangauge II for about £120 including delivery. Because I already have the rev counter, the scangauge features I use most are;

-boost pressure

-coolant temp (so i don't push a cold engine)

-Miles per litre/gallon

-Engine load (expressed as a percentage from 0-99%)

You can choose how quickly the display is updated (once every 2sec, once a sec or twice a second)

How hard are the Scangauges to install?

Just plug into diagnostics socket, Lower lhs just below the steering wheel where the tiny cubby hole is.

This is where mine was until i mounted it by cutting that panel it is sitting against.

Installation:

Take ScanGauge, plug cable into ScanGauge, plug other end into OBD-port, DONE!

PLACING the ScanGauge is the tricky part, I've seen installations where it was fit in the space above

the radio, a flushmounted install in the same space, suspended from a couple of brackets underneath

the heater controls and I've made a custom mount above my rearview mirror myself,

as I allready had my Triple Info Display installed in the space above the radio...

I also installed a ScanGauge II above the radio.

I fitted it "inside" the "hole" Jan is talking about.

I don't have an original rev counter because personally I don't like the design of it.

One of the four gauges is showing the RPM, it's also showing:

- the speed (GPS adjusted, so those are real km/h)

- coolant water temperature

- the actual fuel consumption

This is a picture directly made after the install.

So the gauge on the picture is showing some other values.

Nice Jan! I like the idea and how well its been done.

I can't take credit for the idea of placing the ScnaGauge there; this was inspired by the Blend Mount,

a special system to place ScanGauges onto the stem of a rearview mirror.

Unfortunately this system is not compatible with the mirrors on our cars due to the

lack of a stem, so I came up with my own system, custom made for the Aygo/107/C1.

If anyone is inetrested in making one themselves just let me know and I'll post

a drawing of what needs to be cut and folded out of sheetmetal to make this mount.

I like the idea however for me personally I am trying to think up a way of having it nearer the speedometer. Still unsure whether to get it or just go for the revcounter. Any chance you know of any other ideas to mount it nearer the speedo?
