Auris D4d 1.4 Traction Control

I ordered my Auris 1.4 D4D with the optional traction control system.

When the car arrived it didn't have an ON/OFF switch near the side mirrors switches to turn it ON and OFF.

They said it's always ON. OK...

20.000Kms after i went to a snowy road and thought of trying out the traction control...they said that a sign("slipping car") on the dash board will appear when engaged.

I put it in first...put one wheel on clear asphalt and the other on snow-ice area of the road.

The car was spinning like crazy for 5-6meters and then the icy area cleared up and both wheels touched the asphalt which ended the spinning of the little 1.4 BUT i didn't see any signs or lights coming on OR the spinning going away.

What the @#$%%.

Is there any other way to find out whether it has traction control.

An ECU unit or something.

Don't want to be alarming but I think they scammed you. The car doesn't have traction control. Mine has the VSC system from serie which includes both traction and stability control. One click on the button turns off the traction control. Hold for 3 seconds the same button with the car stopped turns off all the electronics. Besides I already felt the traction control working and light coming on a simple dry tarmac road that doesn't so much grip so if you full throttle in second gear you can turn on the system easily. Mine is also a 1.4 D4D by the way.

Go to your dealer or maybe even another to check but for sure you don't have it. Just a note I'm not even sure you can have only traction I think the module includes both systems traction and stability but I'm not sure about it maybe parts king can clarify this.

When you start the car ALL the dashboard lights should come on (to test they all work) if no traction control light comes on then you do not have the system installed.

If you do have the system installed the light comes on when the system is booting up and goes out when it has started correctly, if the light stays on the system has detected a fault, the car will still run but the traction control systems will be be disabled.

To vti-chris, If you have VSC, when the Car starts the first thing that show's on ODO Trip Computer is VSC OK. (it seems you dont have it)

Now my issue regarding wife's Auris 1.6 VVTI with VSC. Snow infront of the house, summer tires on, with 4 winter tires inside to go to change them. I want to try Traction Control and i wheel spin, expecting the ABS to break the spinning wheels, same as in many other cars that i did the same, i.e fast breaking and letting of wheels, you should get quiet some vibration from this. Surprise surprise the wheels spin like mad, the Light on the dashboard goes ON, but wheels are not stopped by ABS, they just spin. Can someone shed some light into this? Friends Golf 5, behaves as normal, breaking the spinning wheels on and off.

Cheers.
