are there any restriction to the gap insurance? like if the accident was my fault they wont pay out or nething like that?

Like all insurance, you need to read the small print. It will tell you in the T&C's what they will pay out for, take a look at the "Key facts" booklet that comes with all insurance policies. Different insurance providers give you different cover (GAP is insurance backed) so if unsure, give them a call
