Hi all

Brand new to the forum just about to buy a Aug 06 T180 avensis 14k on the clock 1 owner.

Car looks mint in bright red, no scuffs on the alloys, paint really good looks near showroom condition, just a couple of things i noticed, the first was the drivers seat cushion the leather part was quite creased nearly a fold in the leather i have never had a car with half leather seats so i dont know if this is normal or not ?

has the leather just stretched or was the previous owner a large person (and stretched it ) i dont know or should i mention it to the dealer ?? .

it just seemed a lot of wear for such a very low milage.any other things to look out for on the car before i take the plunge ??

apparently the chap who had the car traded it for the same model.

The second thing on the car i knew was not right was the soft sponginess of the brakes (felt like they need pumping) air maybe??

Thanks for any advice

:)

I`m just about to buy same year with 18K miles on clock from a main dealer.

Dare I ask how much you paid for it ?

Ninja, is the fold on the door side seat sqab? If so, I had 2 of those collapse on my 56 T180 within a couple of thousand miles and just as the dealer was taking the photos to send off to Mr T a modified sqab using harder foam was released by Mr T. My dealer did all 3 of mine under warranty with the final version sorting the problem, so yep, take it to the dealer and they should sort it for you under warranty. I only weigh in at 12 stone so not necessarily previous owner being a chunky monkey. The leather was replaced each time as part of the fix as it does make it look horrible.

Oh yeah, I looked at trading mine in , 18k on the clock, against the Blue Moon deal and oddly offered £9.5k for it against a new T180 (I like the car) so yours looks like a good deal from my perspective.

:)

Does the brake pedal firm-up when you lightly depress and then press down immediately after?

I ask as I've found the brakes on my Avensis 2.2TR to be like this and after speaking to the supplying

dealer, I'm told that "they're all like this". I remain to be convinced by this and often tend to 'double brake' in the manner as described above if I'm stopping suddenly.

Yes the pedal does firm up like you say .if you press it from a cold start up i could push the pedal all the way down nearly !

i got the salesman to drive and he has got it the workshop this week (he agreed with me) :)

I'd be highly interested in what is found on your car with respect to braking - in similar circumstances, if I maintain pressure on the brake pedal, I can push it virtually to the floor. I am not that confident in it to brake hard from high speed. Please let me know what's said/done.

Thanks.
