lately ive been having problems setting off and trying to keep the power down. i aint even trying to set off fast, even when i change to 2nd and press the accelerator fairly hard when lower than 3k revs im still sliping and TC flashes sometimes, even when the road aint wet. tonyte it started to rain and i could feel the front end slipping round most corners.

ive checked my tyres roughly and at a guess ive got about 5mm , ive had these tyres for no more than 6k miles theyre EAGLE F1'S on the front

any ideas ? do i need a new set ?

same problem theres ice on the roads and the tyres are far to cold. I get the same problem, the road conditions are really bad and our tyres do not help.

ditto!!!

I only have 3mm on mine so I think I should change them as the weather isnt helping and I can only imagine its that much more slippery for you lot with the more powerful cars.

"just putting it down to all salt on road and cold weather atm the roads arounf here at silver with all the salt and so it my car" eh? :P

My Toyo's are slightly older but still have plenty of grip. Still get nice wheel spins and drifted turning towards Tingley Roundabout from Lowery Road!

Has anyone else had their wheel alignment checked recently? I always get it checked before winter to ensure maximum tred contact.

I recently had my wheel alignment and everything done. I still get to much wheel spin nowadays. The weather is the main cause its terrible cannot get into lift no way. I tried this morning i got wheel spin at around 5000rpm. Was unable to get into lift. Difficult having the top end power aswell try hit lift in 1st and its all wheel spin, same in second. 3rd you can but your going to be breaking the speed limit! not good

ive been spining when the roads are dry , is this becos the rubber is cold ? but even after driving a while its the same so surely the rubber has warmed up

same thing even when the raods are dry and the cars warmed up i still get wheel spin. Its the weather i dont get it so low down the rev range tho when the cars warmed up and everything but coming into lift yea same thing. I wouldnt worry about it i am certain its the weather and the road conditions its like 0degrees during the day so the roads are stil freezing. Plus you need to be sure what tyres you have summer or winter tyres...most probably all round for warm and cool conditions but the weather is extremely cold so there is little or no grip. I put it down to the fact the toyos on my car are nearly gone...just above the legal limit and i have a budget tyre on the front. I will be changing all 4 and my brakes within a few weeks tho.

Best way to check to make sure its not just your car. Go to an indoor car park late night and just try flooring it in first gear to see if you still get wheel spin like crazy. If you do its your car if not then its the roads bud ;)

You simply need to apply less gas!! The conditions are slippy at the moment, even when 'dry' due to salt etc. As stated some people may have tyres not designed for these specific conditions but I doubt that's the issue. I do a lot of driving in my job, my Astra is also struggling for grip all the time. I see a lot of bits of car on the side of the road where people have slid into each other simply because they are not driving to suit the conditions.

Also if your tyre tread is below 3 mm I would say to change your tyres, that's what the Police and ROSPA recommend.

Agreed, struggling with the car, even the bmw is slipping quite badly. the bmwis tottaly stock with original wheels and nearly new tyres but it slips in this weather.

Iv driven 3 days without taking it over 4000rpm lol. Tried and got wheel spin so been saving petrol ;)

ive been getting wheel spins too but this only happened after the tte backbox was fitted. on 1st gear when i launch even on low revs sometimes the wheels just dont want to move and sit their spinning.

on roundabouts the wheels just dont grip but thats cos my treading is wearing away alot on inner side of the tires.

ALSO i got this annoying sound coming from my brakes like the brake pads are scraping the discs even though im not braking?!?! wtf?! it comes and goes :S

my service is coming up soon so i will get it all sorted then

bro i got that same brake squeeking noise on my TS! its when im driving like slowly its like the back brake pads and discs are scraping. It stops when i brake!

I reckon my pads and discs are on the way out. well pads yea but going to upgrade everything.

ye but why would they scrape when you not even braking cos they wouldnt be touching right?

when i brake the squeek goes abit louder and then stops. after a while the sound comes back.

when i first heard it i thought wtf is that sounded like something was dragging on the road but it wasnt.
