My Auris is displaying the check engine message for the third time in a year. I have brought it back to the dealer previously and they told me they reprogrammed the ECU, which seems the clear the problem for a while.

Recently I also had a problem starting the car as when I clutched in and turned the key it would not start, I found that by pressing the accelerator at the same time it would start, this can happen at any time not just when the engine was cold, again the dealer said they reset the ECU and this seemed to help for a while. I also feel that the engine is very noisy even when it has been running for a while. Could all these problems be releated and what might cause them, as I seem to be getting nowhere with the dealer.
