Hi All

Ive been the proud owner of my Carine E 2.0TD now for 6 years. After buying it I discovered it had been involved in a side on collision. From day one I noticed that after heavy rain the reserve where the spare wheel sits in the boot, the drivers rear light unit and surprissingly the back left foot well all get wet.

Ive seen as much as two inches of water in spare wheel space, the rear lights have flooded twice and I had to get the light sockets replaced due to corrosion.

Ive since drilled holes in the spare wheel space and siliconed round the light unit which seems to be helping.

Im simply wondering if anyone else experienced damp problems or are these likely related to the collision the car was in many years ago.

Hi,

I have had problems during winters when driving on wet roads too much. Then it gets water around the spare wheel and it feels very damp in the car. Last spring I put some sillicone to the rubber plugs under the spare wheel and after that I haven't had these problems.

take out both rear lighting units and use silicone , the rubbers flatten/harden with age and let water in . you maybe can buy new seals at a dealer , but will most likely expect you to buy whole new lighting units.
