What Has An Xt4 Got That An Xtr Or Xt3 Hasn't? Oh - And Dent Remov

What are the differences?

Is an XT4 more desirable? Are the differences useful ones, or just cosmetic?

I have seen a 55 reg Rav I really like - not the silver one in Northallerton, a different black one in London. It's an XT4 - I know it's a higher spec and has leather as standard, but what are the other things?

It has a tiny little pingy dent in the drivers door just above the handle - almost like someone has hit it with a centre punch. The paint has fractured a little. Would a Mr Dent be able to do this? What sort of money would I be looking at, just in case I can use it as a bartering tool :) Thank you in advance.

It's getting closer - I can feel it - watch this space!

I just had a look on the wisebuyers guides.

To my mind, there seems very little difference between the XT4 and an XTR with leather as an extra, apart from the tyre sizes. Is that right?

On that site it also says that an XT4 is insurance group 12 as opposed to 11. Is this correct? Why? They have the same size engine and appear to be very similar - odd!

You need to make your mind up, young lady!!!

I think basically it goes ....

XT3 - Nice spec

XTR - add in Climate Control and Cruise Control, and tinted rear windows I think - deffo worth over XT3

XT4 - add in Leather and I think delete tinted rear windows

XT5 - add in CD-Changer and maybe Sat Nav? - not worth it (little mono screen sat nav horrible, updates far to expensive, CD-Changer bonus FAR outweighed nowadays by MP3 player connections available)

I still reckon that XTR in yorkshire was perfect and you could have a custom leather interor done for maybe £500

Above all just my opinon - others may vary!

Oi! Less of the young! :P

The XTR in Yorkshire is still an option (whilst it's still available) even though they have put it up by £500 on the website!

As the weather has been a tad inclement for driving a strange car down the A1 - and also work has been a little gruesome and stressful, I decided to keep a look out in the mean time down here and this XT4 has come up for another £500. I thought it was worth a look as it would save me the £50 train fare and petrol down to here.

I was going to ask you about your leather interior - I saw the ad on eBay. Did you have it professionally fitted or DIY?

Thank you, as always you opinion is very valuable :)

Bit of a mix on the leather - needed to be adapted for the seat airbags which I relied on some prof trimmers to do based on technical data and also specialist tools that I didn't have, so it cost me £300 altogether and I did stripdown and some fitting.

I did take the opportunity to fit electic seat heaters which I *think* are not a normal fitment on the RAV4.2 spec at all and strongly recommend - and that only cost £70 from eBay (Toyota ones are £700!!)

Car sales are very depressed and not getting any better - I reckon if you waved a cheque at them for asking price minus £500 for the car + years warranty + full tank of petrol to drive home, you'd have a deal (and that "Style Collection" pack with the nudge bars all round is a worthwhile extra, even if just for later resale purposes)

These cover models from 2004/5 so pretty much at the end of the 4.2 production. The spec may have altered from earlier models;

I'm with Hoovie.

Black is not popular because it scratches so easily and is difficult to keep clean.

Had a black car once, never again.

I've given you my thoughts on leather in the past, our other car has leather and it's just not everything it's cracked up to be (get it?) IMO. Also, heated seats are useful with leather.

If you are well-aged then you can get to Yorkshire for free by bus nowadays.
