Today, after lengthy wrangling over the tiniest of dents - and basically nearly driving a young man to tears using the same tactics a girl uses to get handbag discount in the sales at Selfridges I have put a deposit on a black 55 reg XT4! :D YAY!:cheers::yahoo:

I managed to get it for more than 10% off the asking price (still a little more than my original budget but hey), they are going to fix the tiny dent, it will have a years Toyota warranty and a few other bits and pieces thrown in - and it is only in West London! B)

Underneath my desk, I am skipping! :group-cuddles: I just wanted to thank you all so much for putting up with my innumerable questions, soothing my fears, virtual pats on the head and good natured patience!

Photos will no doubt follow - I haven't arranged picking it up yet, but just had to share...

You surely couldn't torment me as much as I've tormented you Lot! :P

I love the beetle dearly, but it just cannot cope with the speed hump mountains of South London and it is too precious to trash  It only did about 300 miles last year and most of them were on the drag strip!

My poor camper van however, is ragged to death! I can't wait to get it in the garage and get it stripped down!:lol:

Well to be honest I have had a few doubts....

Maybe the silver would have been better than the black after all, maybe the leather seats will freeze my ***** off, maybe I should wait until March when the reg changes to see if I can pick up a bargain, maybe the black will show up every scratch and I'll hate it, maybe I should have gone up to Northallerton/Chorley/Belfast  in the freezing cold and *girly moment*driven back down onthe motorway cacking myself*girly moment*, maybe the dog won't like it - NAH NOT REALLY! :P

But don't set me off - will ya? :D

Don't worry about black - we've two of them in the family and my neighbour liked mine that much he swopped his 2 year old RAV for a new black one. Yes - they do take some keeping clean BUT they look FANTASTIC when you've washed and leathered ( see instructions on forum and for goodness don't mention sponges to Anchorman ) it and put some nice polish on the leather seats. Well done - it didn't take you as long to make up your mind as me - but I'm sayin' nowt about that.

Well, Tuesday is D day - or should that be R day? ;)

I'm getting quite excited now - and a little scared! Just think heat - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, heat! I might just drive it home wearing my bikini and Ugg boots! It's in the bodyshop at the moment getting it's tiny little ding knocked out and touched in.

I'll have a myriad of thing to consider now like erm; water - and anti-freeze!

I've been looking at bits on eBay, rubber boot mats and the like for the hounds, also dog guards. I did a search on here and found some, but there's another one on eBay I fancy, I'll put a linky up for opinions when I work out how to do it. Are we allowed to do that? :)

Toyota do an excellent boot mat. It is very hard wearing and easy to clean with a hose or pressure washer ( out of the car that is!!!! ). The edges have an upstand so that any "puddles" or mud does not run off the edge. About £60 I think, but PM Parts-King on this forum for a good price. I have tried the rubber Cannon ones in the past but IMHO they are a poor substitute for the Toyota one and they are £30ish.

If you are really going to drive home in a bikini, can you give us notice as we could probably move our curry night to Londo for the event? ;)

Maybe the silver would have been better than the black after all,

Congrats... :)

Black is by far the best and worst colour - cleaned and polished no other colour looks as good, or gives the depth of shine (see below on our Black 4-2) sadly however it only stays looking this good for about an hour!!..

Hello chicken :)

I have been driving around a little bit, trying to get rid of my leaden right foot! Also the job from hell has been a little more hellish than usual :( No prangs yet - though I keep finding 5th instead of 3rd; apart from the occasion when I found 1st! :o

However, I am loving the RAV, it is soooooooooooooooooo different from my oldies; I hadn't realised how truly HARDCORE I had become driving my van in feral central (Peckham)

The car dealers have been very accomodating too - I discovered a tiny chip in my windscreen, I didn't see it 'til yesterday (first dry day we've had). I phoned them and they said bring it over today and we'll sort it - no quibbles, I'm made up with it! :D

Will post some photos over the weekend, when I get the chance. How are things up there in the wilds? Started stirring your haggis and mashing your neeps yet? ;) I might be up to the wall soon to visit Mater :)

haha

Been practising increasing doses of whisky...... and a wee party for the old man - he was 90 last Thursday.

Staying in this weekend as the forecast is gales and snow...just when my 3 jeeps are in the garages!!! Number 1 threw the alternator belt, and whilst its in, getting a front hub noise checked. Number 2 is still being road-tested and the landrover is up north idling in a garage waiting for its engine implant

Mind and oil the hinges!! :P
