Questions About Dmf Failure Please?

Hi Guys

To say that all I really know about my 2007 XTR is how to drive it will probably become apparent in the next few sentences! but can I just please get you guys who know all about the oily bits to explain to me, like I was a 5 year old please, about DMF failure? In short is it a problem unique to older cars, would a car of my age (07) still be prone to this problem/failure and if so what should I be looking out for by way of signs/symptoms? I hope i'm not the only one who frequents this forum that needs clarification on these points please but if I am forgive me

Thanks as always in advance for your guidance!!

Paul.

Hi Paul +a big welcome, I joined this forum a little over 12mths ago + like you i had no mechanical knowledge, and still don't, I am now on my third rav + my 13th year of Rav ownership and in that time i have never had a problem with any of them, i was confident that i had one of the most reliable vehicles in the world + a vehicle i could jump into at anytime + go anywhere.. I enjoy this forum for the banter + have met some very special people as a result but sometimes as i read of other members problems i think that maybe i was better off in my ignorance. what i am trying to say here is you have a great car, that is very reliable, the dmf issue should never be a problem. enjoy your car enjoy this forum + in the unlikely event that your 07 rav developes a problem someone on here has the knowledge to get it sorted.. STEW

Hi Stew

Thanks for your kind words. I could not agree more about loving the old Rav....I have had no problems in the 13 months or so with my XTR and cannot see me wanting or needing to change it for some time to come yet. Hearing your words on the DMF matter was also reassuring. I agree about this forum too, there is always some good advice to be had and I look

forward to becoming a regular on here.

Thanks for your reply

Paul.

Mine did join the choir invisbule howver the guys on here were great in helping me sort it myself. So I saved a fortune. Mine failed at 67 000 however I have done quite a lot of towing with it. Enjoy the car. It's a relatively rare occurance anyway.
