How To Tune A Ctsc?

Hi, i am seriously thinking about buying either a t sport compressor or a CTR.

I was just wondering whats the tuning potential in a compressor??

Sure the boost could be pumped up a bit...? or what way have all you compressor owners got it done?

I just think that the compressor deserves a wee bit more BHP!!

Thanks

intercooler best mod for more power, lookin bout puttin it up to bout 240bhp

don't bother with the figures for the compressor tho 6.9 0-60 is wrong, it's quicker!!!!!

i've left a type R behind and i've tried againt my mate with a scooby stuck side by side all the way.

no there's a point, where can i get an intercooler for the Compressor ??

Silverstone Performance does an intercooler upgrade with FMIC, induction kit, mapping and labour for just over 2K

guys sorry to burst your bubble..

as matt from silverstone has told me.. the intercooler alone will not give you the bhp your looking for. our compressors came without the intercooler because we are not running enough boost to warrant one.

if you were to fit one you will only see the real difference on hotter days.. otherwise the gains would be minimal!

for value for money and noticable gians.. go for 2nd stage cams!

GOD SHAUN, y did u hav to burst the bubble? u had to ruin things hey :P But the intercooler kit with the TTE supercharger takes the car to 230bhp and from wot ive heard thats taming the figures aswell apparently its actually got more bhp than that, or isit bcos they map the car aswell?

agreed, i have been looking at the stage 2 cams for a while, and for the money they are the best upgrade along with a tuned power FC. i beleive a standard 2zz-ge with stage 2 cams and a power fc tuned can take it from 189 to around 220. Combine that with a 2.5" unrestricted exhaust system and a cai gains on a standard t-sport could be around the 225 mark. Not to forget a ported manifold(header) could take you to 230. A compressor has the same engine but slapped with the supercharger. I reckon gains with a power FC would be must better to run with the charger. Plus you have the extra torque and brake from the charger already combine the compressor with stage 2 cams the top end power in a compressor can be increased aswell.

Overall if the money is there to spend later go for a t-sport. Depends what you want, if you get a TS ur looking into a NA build which is costly and most bang for buck youll get is around the 225-230bhp if you spend a fair bit. A compressor could be tweaked maybe with an exhaust, header, cai to see some gains of about 225-230. Its the more hard on engine work which will cost to get the bigger gains I.E. Cams, manifold

Farhan u can Fit the Power FC 1st, from wot ive been told from Xoom its a HELL A LOT of wire work, these r the exact words wot xoom said "a few things didnt work properly wen we plugged it in.... like the idle control when u turned the A/C on or if u turned the Sterring wheel..... also the radiator fan kicking over @ 94 degrees stopped working..... which would mean the car would overheat if driven around like that in traffic" His exact words, but luckily he knew friends who worked for Toyota and were able to fit it for him with Lots of hours working on it i believe ;)

haha sorry William.. had to do it!

to be exact the intercooler kit + the smaller sc pulley +piggy back+ the map will give you the bigger gains and loads more torque (the figures from SP are modest figures... i personally think once the upgrade is done ull see 250bhp + and loads more torque!!!) however if you were looking for just the intercooler then you would see a small increase but not worth the money you paid.. according to Matt!

and to be fair why pay 1k for the intercooler parts and fitting when you can pay an extra grand for the sc pulley + piggy back+ map.

1k is alot of money and you can spend it on or mods that are more worth while..

I had the fortune of talking to engineer at Fensport who also owns a 450bhp celica and i asked him as you do, 'what can i do to increase the power of my car?

his reply was: (as farhan and william would of heard me say..lol) 'a 1degree increase in inlet temperature constitutes a 3% lose in overall power' (im pretty sure thats what he said..but dont qoute me on that) and as our cars ar charged this holds even more true.

Bascially what he was tryng to say is if you can decrease the temperature of the air you suck in then you will increase overall power of your car

cold dense air = more oxygen = bigger bang = more power!

*point to ponder guys*- if you guys can fit a good cold air feed to block out surrounding heat im sure you will see similar gains to fitting an intercooler..

farhan and william Know wat im talking about! Many thanks to Farhan for his help!!

is there not a pully upgrade for the compressor to increase the boost?

Yes, but it needs to be custom made...and you can't just install a new pulley alone!

For the intercooler upgrade SP informed that they needed 3-4 weeks heads up. Probably in order to get the pulley and custom piping for the FMIC made.

I would be surprised if they stock the compressorkit, but getting that from TTE in Germany (while they still have in stock...) shouldn't take all that long...BUT...I know that TTE does not (that is what they wrote at least) have any more of the airconpipes needed for the RHD Rolla's (not needed for LHD), so I guess this would have to be custom made as well if they don't have it laying around. Other than that there are no modifications to be made if you have the facelift (for the SC install).

If I were you I would plan this well ahead in time and get SP in on your plans!! :)

Cool!! :)

If you are just doing the SC it is really not that hard of a job to do the install yourself (aside from the airconpipe possibly). Not sure what there is to save, though. Prolex sells just the kit (I bought mine from him).

is sp charging a grand for fitting the intercooler kit .if so you could may be save a bit by fitting the intercooler yourself then another grand for the rest .

had a word with dave at prolex today, there are only 2 superchargers left...I better start saving.

....and that may or may not include one that is already sold to a guy in Aussieland... :o

She's running fine (fingers crossed). I had a Typhoon Kit fitted a couple of months back and then had it rolling road tested and it reduced the torque and the BHP until 8.2k RPM !!! so i took it back off and put the stock filter back on. Gutted £200 buxs down the pan. Oh well. Anyone out there want to buy a nearly new Typhoon kit ?? LOL !

I must admit i am having a mixed performance from the car depending on the fuel thats added. Im unsure if there is a fuel / MAF sensor issue with the car coz sometimes she really shifts and other times she feels a little sluggish.

So you couldnt keep away from the compressors eh ?? LOL

SP gets their kit from TTE. I just talked to Matt today and he will offer the SC upgrade for as long as TTE has them in stock. If the buzz on the wire is true they do not seem to have too many left, so I suppose time might of the essence here seeing that SP are not the only ones offering this kit (only ones offering to install them as far as I know).

pleased to hear its still ok,i found v power makes mine sluggish and poor mpg but tesco 99 is fine for some reason, i was very sorry i sold the compressor you have so got another and lovin it now.has full custom s/s exhaust on and should have the tte bumper on on sunday weather permitting if the bodyshops done there stuff will post some pics up when done, then the brakes need a upgrade.cheers

Gents,

There should be an old post on here from myself regarding a guy at Vtune in Oxford, they do a little mod to the s/charger and a bit of mapping which takes it to a proven 260, he wanted around 400 quid for the work. they are the guys i'd trust as they do a lot of work on the exige s. and he said he wouldnt take it any higher as the bottom ends were chocolate. His number was 07003450075.

i was all up for getting it done untill bits started dropping off it...now i'v got a 'trigger broom' of a corolla..
