Hi all,

thought I would introduce myself in here,

I'm marko and I drive a 2002 corolla T Sport. I like to tinker with my cars (and I run my own performance enthusiast community site) so thought I would pop by and see what the CTS croud are up to!

I have so far disconnected the butterfly valve on my CTS, replaced the 'snorkel' with a bigger, straighter pipe that takes air from behind the bumper and am in the process of installing a wizards of nos wet nitrous kit.

I am not convinced by the butterfly valve thing but since I managed to snap the little pipe the hose fits on it will have to stay off! The new snorkel pipe made a nice subtle difference to the sound and throttle response but the big gains should come from the nitrous install which for now will only be adding aprox 25hp but in time this will increase hopefully to 75hp, maybe more in the long term who knows!

Anyhow, I was curious as to what people tend to do with their CTS to get a little more power out of them, im not talking top end look at my 2000000hp mods but things that improve the midrange torque and throttle response I feel make the biggest improvement to driveability.

What are the typical mods? I see some have fitted cold air intakes such as the AEM and TRD kit whilst others have tinkered with the exhaust system. its my understanding both stock items are pretty decent for the power the car makes so no real gains are to be had here? I also see people saying the ECU can not be remapped? why not? people told me this with my last car and I managed to get it remapped. It involved removing the stock map, editing it so it was read/write, reloading it to the car then on the rolling road tweaking it, can this not be done on the CTS ECU?

Has anyone on here played with nitrous on the 2zz engine? I see a few in the states have but not over here? In australia its not road legal so they tend to avoid it!

Think I best leave it at that for now! Cheers in advance!

hello an welcome

i think the best mod to do to improve midrange torque an throttle response is fitting supercharger an front mount intercooler, lookin bout 240-250bhp ish with that

plus the car sounds great with supercharger an induction kit fitted - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fVQIpOwzvh4&feature=email

as for the ecu remap, it is possible, but not reccommended, i think few people that have done it have had problems, you can fit a apexi power fc, or similar which allows you to control many thing in the engine

when you have nitrous fitted hope to see a video posted up on here to see wot it does

enjoy lift!!!

I don't think NOS is road legal here either, that's probably why no-one has it. Also you need to fit a compressed gas sticker to the back of your car for transportation regs, thus telling police you have it!

My friend fitted it to his Clio, he got a bit trigger happy with it and blew up his engine. I'd steer clear if I were you.

Fit an Induction Kit and a new backbox, but dont expect a big improvement though, below 4k RPM its as flat as a fart.

I can assure you it is completely legal here and you dont need to have a sticker as that only applies to commercial vechicles ;)

have ran it for a whilst on other cars with no problems, decent kit and correct setup and it should be completely safe :)

As for a blower, oh man if only I had the funding to do that!

What is this about a power fc? I have heard of them but never used them, what exactly does it allow me to do? Can I improve the power curve pre lift and lower the lift engagement point to give a smoother curve?

Exhaust and intake, ive tinkered with my airbox and quite like the sound, eventually I do plan on fitting an AEM intake tho as they look sweet! Never been a fan of loud exhausts but is it possible or advisable to bypass the cat or remove any mid silencers? I dont know how the system is set up stock?
