Avensis - Replace Back Shock Absorbers

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if it was normal to have to replace the back shock absorbers in this model after only 50,000kms. Car was bought new in 2004 and we seem to be replacing brakes, tyres and now shocks earlier than our experience with other new cars. The Toyota service centre told us there was a slow leak after they did the last service.

I would have expected the front ones needing to be replaced first given the weight of the engine. The car has hardly ever gone on rough roads or carry heavy weight in the back.

This is our first big car after owning smaller cars (before kids where on the scene). Was wondering if this was normal for this model or if things do need replacing sooner in larger/heavier vehicles.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Seems a bit early to me unless you live in the outback with washboard roads, my Avensis estate has done 280,000 kms (170,000miles) and it's still got the original shocks all round.....
