Aye thats it.

What he doesn't seem to know is that if he buys the front one it is only $2.74 for 24" and you just cut it off to length!!!

Volume related price I guess.

NO NO NO NO It's so easy to do...........

Took me all of 10 minutes to do..took longer to drive to Toyota to get the part then back again.....

Just removed the old blade taking care not to bend to metal retainer...then slide our rubber blade and slide in new and replace....easy....

Just do it inside as trying this with freezing cold hands will end up with soar fingers and probably a plaster or two.... :crybaby: :crybaby:

You're right Chatman, piece of cake getting the wiper off...

However where do we get the replacement blades from? Do they have to come from MR T? or are the ones from Halfrauds ok?

I thought I could use my old front ones which I've just replaced but found out that they dont fit... I also dont like the Bosch blades I've got on the front, luckily I kept the original front blades and will be looking at getting some blades for them once I know where to get them from...

A chap at work recommended wiperblades.co.uk anyone used them before?

If you are talking about just the rubbers I get them from the USA so not much help there. However, I have also fitted Bosch rubbers quite successfully but the recess for the stainless steel spine doesn't quite line up but they still work OK.

I think your best solution is Kingo. That fitting for the entire assembly is special and I think you will struggle getting that in any case but Kingo does a range of "Toyota Optifit" blades. These are really good quality with a rust free steel frame and the links have stainless pins rather than plastic so they don't wear then clunk when they change direction.

I think it would be the best VFM.

PS - our US friends will fall about when they see I fit "rubbers" to my wipers!!!

wee Parts-King sorted me with a full set of front wipers for number 1. Great - no rust and 67 seconds to fit. They even get delivered the day before you order them....

It was yours bothy that first drew my attention to how good kingos wipers are. Since then I've seen some for a 4.3 which are the same quality that shcm has on stand by.

The fronts are 24 and 17 inch.

A pair of genuine "Optifit" Wiper Blades is going to cost about £16 delivered, they are excellent quality, even comes with the drivers side spoiler as per the original. Optifit is a genuine Toyota part, but the range is focused on cars over four years old, to be more competitive on price. The range is getting larger all the time and covers a lot of the faster moving range

A pair of rubbers, Oooh err missus, will cost more like £18 weird I know, but yer rubbers are dearer than blades

Kingo

You've confused me Kingo... (easily done!)

Are the "Optifit" blades the same as the original fit or are they a traditional style of blade?

Also, does the price of rubbers include p+p?

You must make a lot of mistakes! I have a pencil with a rubber eraser on both ends for the same reason.

On one of our trips to Florida when the kids were only very small, my wife caused quite a stirr when she told some of the local ladies that one daughter was collecting rubbers. She meant erasers of all shapes and sizes from Disney and Universal.

Its a wonder we didn't get locked up!!!

Toyota make a full range of "Genuine" replacement parts, the exact same part as fitted on the car from new. They also make a range of parts called "Optifit" which are cheaper, and aimed at the older car. These "Optifit" parts still carry the manufacturers warranty (Batteries 3 years for instance) but because they are a small specific range, they can be produced cheaper. They may look slightly different, but are excellent quality. They are certainly not your traditional off the shelf blade from a factor. The above prices include p&p

Kingo

Hey Kingo...

Any chance you could post up a pic of the optifit blades/wipers? This way we would be able to see what type of wipers they are and if they are the same (at least look the same) as our standard ones.

They don't look the same Rob. They don't have the plastic airfoil they are a metal framed standard wiper with an additional shield.

They are very well made though.

Aye thats them, OPTIFIT. Thats what young chaps is for Bothy, blade correction and video player setting

I often wonder who owns the name "Optifit" I see a brand of those healthy pro-biotic drinks with the same name in one of the local supermarkets, a quick Google of the name shows it is a very popular name!

Kingo
