Where are they made?

My own are Bosch, sounds like German

My wifes are Tokico.

They may be different as that depends on a supplier in a point in time. Auris is made in Europe so you will probably find brands like Bosch, Ate, Textar etc.

All car manufacturers do it. They get parts from general suppliers and put own name on a box.

I have a 1.4L Trendy manufactured in Turkey with Bosch pads (very noisy) and my wife has a 1.4L Casual manufactured in Japan with Toyota pads (propably Denso ) very quite ones. I asked the Greek distributer to change my pads due to noise they made and the replacement were Toyota, so no noise anymore!

Same here - Turkey manufactured Auris and the brake pads are pretty noisy and squeal like a pig.
