hi,

Im thinking of getting a yaris on finace,

But im also thinking about an MG ZR,

A pug206 or a Citreonc3 pluriel....

Tho I dont particulary want anything above a 1.4,

probably nearer the 1.1 end, basically because I perfer cars that run on air so I can spend my money on otherstuff.

This forum is likely to be a bit bias, but what do u make of them?

What are you looking at Diesel / Petrol. Check out the world record set by the diesel.

I don't own a Yaris yet although I will do this Tues/Wed. Before spending this kind of money I seriously looked at the alternatives available and from all the test drives and reviews I have read the Yaris certainly comes out top. Toyota are known for their reliability, the yaris has an excellent range of engines with good fuel economy and they hold their value well.

If you want something economical get the diesel; forget the noise it is very quiet.

The only thing I find about diesel cars, is that the extra you have to pay for one, I could of spent that on petrol.....

(I was thinking of getting one on finance)

Although If I do go secondhand route its a good idea,

because at least someone else would of paid the Purchasing premium to own one.

I managed to get £800 knocked off the price. Why? because I checked the cheapest online price printed it out and took it to the dealer they matched it pretty much some people are happy to pay the list price I say bargain with them.

I know diesels are more expensive although I do a LOT of mileage and also diesels are superb workhorses. The 1.4 is a nippy beast and it has a similar output to the 1.3 which isn't that much cheaper.

My local dealer (Hadfield Road, Cardiff) is offering 0% finance you should pop down.

I'd have to pop up, around and down and up to go there.

I live in Cornwall.

Im also eyeing up an MG ZR at the moment becasue if I pay 2245 as deposit it'll cost me £99 a month which is quite good.

Definitly thinking about one of these, First time I ever saw a nice one was in the paper today, and now iv seen more on this site, never really considered 'em before.

whichever Car forum u visit from Honda to BMW/Mbenz there is so much respect for the Yaris. I must admit even though a drive the lastest E Class the Yaris is still on my wish list...seems funny but it is.

Although it is sed that the MG handles really well, the Yaris wont break down if u give it some stick. the driving position on the Mgs aren't great either. the Yaris image i think, is slowly moving over to the younger audience (me!!) and more and more young uns(me) are getting them. it had any problems with the car. Ok the boot aint massive (for an ice install ;) ) but hey!

Get one they are top

have you tried phoning a broker??? they advertise in the bakc of car mags! just ring them up and tell them what your looking for and they tell you what price they can get them for! you can then take this to your main dealer and usually they'll match it or do better!

regards to finance i find the cheapest way to do it in the long run (i.e. overall amount of money you pay back) is buy sourcing the finance yoursefl! Northern Rock offer a great deal of just 6% APR at the mo, you can compare this with your dealer by asking what the apr is on any finance deal, but also ask if they any extra costs like set-up fees and early termination costs just in case you come into some money!

Although if your the kind of person who likes to change your car regularly (like every 3 years) private leasing is also an option! fleetlease do some good deals which covers everything tyres, servicing, etc...you just pay for the fuel and insurance! sorry gone on long enough..good hunting!

Get a second-hand Japanese built Yaris as they are better than the french ones.

The MG is a death Trap as the Rover 25 only got 19% in the crash tests whereas the Yaris got 81%.

Peugoets/Citroens always get very low ratings in driver surveys in terms of quality and reliability.

Overall the Yaris is your best bet, even the 1.0's are quick enough if you use your accelerator properley to get the VVT-i going. I would recommend something like a 1.0 GLS/CDX so you get the nice things like A/C etc.

Hey im new so i thought id stick my oar in!

*ahem* do not buy a ZR! i work for MG and they are shanty! well not completely but they just dont have the reliability of a Toyota. i could have had one but bought my Yaris instead! its differant and can take a thrashin! whereas if u tried that in a ZR...... headgasket? what headgasket!

I'm new too but thought I'd add my tuppence worth!

I have just ordered a brand new Yaris T-Spirit 1.3 and although they badgered me about finance (and believe me they do!) I said NO and have arranged a personal loan with my bank at a much better rate of interest including Gap Protection and all that.

When I told them I already had Gap Protection sorted and my finance sorted they were a bit gobsmacked, but I am a typical woman - stubborn as a mule, will not budge! :D

At the end of the day they get more money from you taking finance so they will try and talk you into it in anyway they can, but there are much cheaper options out there! Some online banks are doing 5.9% APR rates and all that!

Best bet is to shop around! :D

Oh and my other half has a 206 and they arent too bad, although his is top-of-the-range so is more comfortable than your average 206! I'm driving it atm to get to work and its very nice, although unless you are planning to spend over 10k on a car dont bother with 206's!

Go with the Yaris - I have! Hopefully the best deal I'll have ever made, but gotta wait til I actually get my car first! :D

Yes I would agree regarding finance, the only downside is, is if the interest rates go up then so does the finance rate from banks (already had that from Cahoot) whereas if you barter with Toyota, they can get the rate down to something very similar, and you dont have the same issues regarding fluctuating interest rates.

I got Toyota down to 6.3% when I borrowed the £2000 to get my Avensis.

I would still rather have a used Japanese built Yaris though, the French ones have a different Aura, something I can't put my finger on, but the Japanese ones feel better - there quieter aswell.

thats what i thought! it gives a better sound than the Blitz kit it replaced, i notice the slight accelaration improvement and was so easy to fit! the blitz took way to long to fit, then it was broke, *****!

So anyway as people seem to be on this thread ive got big plans for this car, target is to get a Feature for it, so any suggestions are welcome!
