Hello Jock,

I posted a step for sale in the general 'for sale' forum earlier this evening. It is only one step but brand new. There was another odd step on eBay over Christmas - not sure if it sold but you could make up a pair if it is still available.

Kingo the parts guru is probably your best bet for genuine parts - he did have five sets at a discount price before Christmas. I think they were around £230 plus delivery. There are several aftermarket examples available on eBay starting at around £100.

I was lucky enough to find mine, brand new never fitted and in original packaging on eBay for £120 'buy it now' including postage. Don't think the seller knew real value. Managed to prang one side on a cycle rack but could only obtain a pair [insurance] so now have the odd one taking up space in garage.

:) Glad to hear you have got things sorted Gavin [courtesy of Kingo I presume]. From your profile I guess you know your way around a tool kit. Are you aware of the Toyota EU site?

http://www.toyota-tech.eu/Aim.aspx?menuitem=2

If you have not done so already, you can download and print off the fitting instructions for a 'pre-fitting' perusal.

I recently fitted the steps to my 4.3 and found the most taxing part was getting off the plastic undertrays - primarily because they are held on by a mixture of press studs and nuts. Not sure if yours will be similar but no big deal if you are patient I am sure.

The other thing that was a bit of a nuisance was the length of the main fixing bolts as the threads are long and necessitated borrowing a 'long series' socket in order to torque the nuts up properly.

Managed the whole job on my drive without the need to raise the vehicle [only consequence was a bit of gravel rash!]

Good luck for the weekend.

David

Hi David

Yes parts from Kingo, very helpfull and easy to deal with, I have a problem with vibration in fifth gear, and I got some usefull information that im looking at, so hopefully I can sort the problem, also had a look at the site you gave me the link too. great info always usefull.

Once I get the small problems sorted I think I will start to enjoy the car.

Also got a tow bar( fitting at weekend ) so I can pull the caravan so we will be heading off to Lincoln in April for a week, im looking forward to the break.

Did you find the prob with the noise at the front wheel - I meant to pass on the anchorman suggested it could be the disc pad 'shims' misplaced - but I've been a bit distracted with other family events so memory is poor the noo.

For whats its worth I drove another VW minibus last weekend and its gearstick vibrated as well...... (red herring)

I've just bought a short shift set up for 1 RAV and hopefully fit it soon - I got a row from anchorman for having a polished gear knob....... :crybaby:

BIG Brother is here..........(It's the pies that do it) :D:

Side steps will cost you around £220 at todays prices. The trouble with mentioning prices in a thread is that the thread is here for years to come and will not be correct at a later date  Prices dependant on location (UK only deliveries too)

Kingo

Thanks,i understand that prices change, just like in my line of work,(Bullion of gold/silver),but its a good ball park figure.....and i can compare your price to the dealer who i get the car off, if i decide to have it,as some do try it on with prices of accessories, where as i know yours will probably be cheaper.

Yup, that's the one. The date refers to the first build date I think. The part code should be on the box label so you can cross check.

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and appologise for dragging this post out of the archives. We are looking to buy a T180 Rav4 as soon as we well our 2001 Rav4 NRG 3 door. I'm really hoping to buy one with front bars and side steps fitted but this is severely limiting my options.

Anyone bought any recently and can quote rough prices?

I see Parts King is the man to ask but am not allowed to PM yet.

Great forum all and i'm sure i'll be using it much more in the future (when i come to install rear camera and new DVD/Sat Nav  One step at a time though.

Cheers
