Problems With Mpg

hi just put a remus back box on my car, sounds and looks cool as f :censor: but my average mpg has gon down from around 30ish to 20-22. i wass expecting a bit of a drop but not that much. i did drive 20 miles without a back box on to go to a mates garage when i realised that the original exhaust bolts where part of th exhaust,i was gutted. could that of sent the ecu on over load or summet or should i stop complaining and enjoy the sound ?

I have the TTE (Rebadged Remus) Backbox on my car and still average 31 Mpg. Not had any Mpg problems since I put it on to be fair...

Don't see how it would knock your Mpg down that much with just the addition of a backbox.

i cannot understand why it would happen but i have done 100 miles and its just below half a tank. thats using lift every now and then nowt special, i was going to put an air filter on but this kinder puts me off , i will end up putting one on when i get some spare money but i will be averaging the same as a compressor !

Well I have both the TTE Backbox and a K&N Typhoon. Ofcourse I love dabbling in Lift but my Mpg never drops below 27. £20 petrol usually gets me 150-160 miles.

Try resetting your ECU by removing the two 15 amp fuses next to each other in your fusebox. Might not do anything but hey, worth a go...

Just the clock as far as I'm aware mate.

Radio doesn't need recoding or anything. it's usually used for getting rid of the three warning lights on the dash :P

just have another check on the fitting, make sure it's not blowing

the only other thing could be your puttin your foot down bit more to hear the sound lol

I have the TTE Back Box and an A'PEXi and average just under 30mpg

As Mike said check everything's tight and there are no leaks

if reseting the ecu and the exhaust aint blowing, it must be me,i do like to hear it !, it also seems to be a bit better mid range 4500 rpm up over, not alot but you can notice it a bit, cost £60 direct fit, i think it was a good deal . just bought a viper induction (£160) couldnt let it pass , im a sucker for summet cheaper than what it should cost, so that aint guna help mpg ! cant wait to get it fitted
