Squeaky Clutch Pedal Action

hey all.

anyone else had the problem with their clutch pedal creaking/squeaking? if so, which point did you lubricate? ive removed the lower fascia panel to get a better look and i would believe it to be the pivot point with the pin through it making the noise (sorry if thats not the technical way of describing it, makes sense to me) ive put a bit of grease on that point but it didnt help much.

any help would be muchly appreciated because this is driving me insane!

i had this when i got my TSPort, its not a creakey pedal, its the actual master cylinder that needs replacing.

about £80+VAT for the part and about an hour or two fitting!

Ouch... thanks for the heads up. It wasnt doing it when i bought the car about 4 weeks ago so i just assumed that the cold weather had something to do with it. Is it safe to drive with it as it is? Or is it something i should get replaced asap?

Thanks

yea its not something thats going to jump out and wreck you but its not 100% good for your clutch really either!

i drove with mine like that for about a month, and before that the problem had probably been apparent for 6-12months so not deadly, but i did replace the clutch afterwards...

thanks man.

May i ask what you payed to have it replaced? Ive just called our local dealer (fish brothers in swindon) who want 270 for the parts + fitting..

Will try and get the part myself from parts king on the forum as well as calling the dealer in Bath, Trowbridge and Salisbury to see what price they give me too.

i paid £35 fitting for 1 hour. thats using a friendly local toyota specialist garage who seems to do everything for like half price.

parts are cheaper from partking

dont bother using toyota for the fitting as they charge 80+ per hour + VAT and will book it as a 1.5 or 2 hour job.

find a good local mechanic/garage who charges half the rate and does it in half the time...unless you love lining toyo's pockets!

I've got the same problem. Only does it now and again. I got Toyota to look at it twice, they replaced various parts but never the master cylinder.

It is fairly annoying though...

I paid £67+vat for the master cylinder from parts-king a while ago, so it shouldn't be too much different from that.

As others have said, it's the master cylinder.

You might be able to shut it up for a bit by spraying some grease onto the clevis pin (attached to the clutch pedal, pointing out towards the front of the car through the bulkhead and into the master cylinder).

It won't cause any damage leaving it for a while to get it changed. Just wait 'til your next service or something.

Just before you dip your hand in your pocket try driving it with different shoes, sounds silly I know. I had a squeaky pedal but my wife said it was only when I drove the car, I drove wearing shoes with no grip and there is no squeak. I think in my case the fascia plate is a little loose and so when I wear grippy shoes it holds the plate causing the pedal to squeak, with slippy shoes it can move enough to not squeak.

funnily enough i did try other shoes just in case... but this was a creak you could feel through the pedal. ive just lubed a plastic bit that holds the rod for the master cylinder and the noise has stopped :D .. so it might just be a temp cure or that was the issue. regardless.. its sorted for now :D
