Kinda doubt you'll get the dealer to agree to do it for nowt in the next couple of weeks so, assuming that's the case & you wanna get it done in your shoes I'd ask for it to be done, state/email you believe it should be done at Dealer/Mr T expense and pay the bill adding "paid under protest". Then fill in a small claims form with the details and present same to dealer & see what he does.

He might well cough up to avoid the agro.. but he may not want to do business with / do sensible business with you in future...

Cheers!

I wouldnt say it is a common fault but have repaired a few in the past, none for a while though.

Im sure you would be able to get a second hand one fom somewhere if you dont fancy paying the dealer prices, not that difficult to replace.

Not really worthy of a recall as its not safety related and you can still fill up with fuel.

Mart.

Being a mechanical ignoramus I'm not too sure what you mean by 'plunger', but I do have a problem unscrewing the actual cap. The cap is very difficult to turn as it refuses to spin easily on the attached cord. It's always a two-handed job - left hand holds the cord, while right hand screws/unscrews the cap.

A very annoying niggle, both hands usually reek of fuel on completion.
