Picked up a new black SR on the 27th of last month, looks stunning in black, but had to wash it 3 times in the first 2 weeks !!!.

Cheers

Mine is black but this helps

power spray clean

Meguiars shampoo wash

dry

super polish resin

extra gloss

Meguiars wax

It takes a long time but it will look clean for a lot longer.

This process protects the paint a bit like a seal so the dirt sits on top when it eventually sticks. So when you wash it it will only require a quick shampoo and dry.

Financially you need to do 16k+ per annum to make it pay, however the Diesel's low torque make them much more relaxing to drive around. The petrol's are very flat below 4,500 RPM, so just from a driving perspective the Diesel would would be my choice even if you do low miles.

ok thanx i got a very good deal on the 2.0 D4D got the price down 2 13k brand new and would have only saved 200 odd pounds...dont do a 16 k closer to 12 but i do live in london so loads of stop starting and trafic

hah!

1 sleep to go is nothing like holding back the temptation of booting a brand new engine sr180. You need to treat it nicely for 600 miles first.

No m-way steady speeds or cruise control and no 100% throttle or > 3k RPM, then no higher than 3.5krpm at 600. When you reach 1-1.5k miles have fun.

Thats if you believe running it in is worth it. Otherwise just boot it. Careful of the brakes tho.

Doing a good mixture of half running in and half booting when fully warmed up, been up to 4.5k once and getting it under load every so often. Been stuck doing a fair bit of city driving today though :(

Feels good, quite tight obviously and more lag than I rememeber but as it loosens up Im sure that'll improve too. I'll put some pics up later on

It does loosen up a bit, less lag. Takes a few K though.

Yeah driven quite a few turbo cars mate, know how they work thanks!

Its very laggy compared to the Clio 1.7 turbo we built using a volvo engine but comparbly laggy to my Mums mazda 3 Diesel, better than the works corsa TDs though!
