hi there, my car first started making a strange clik clok noise on new years eve, i then took it to a garge and the fault was diagnosed that my o/s drive shaft had gone. when i got this change the noise has gone down a little, but there still was a noise but goes after you hit over 40mph.

as i was coming out a car park today my car jerkerd forward and i herd a big bang noise, got out to see if i had hit anything, but nothing there also as i drove the car home it slipped out of gear! i then took the car to the garage and received a phone call from them just before, saying my gear box has gone! and i need a new one.

has anyone ever experienced this problem?

also should i buy a new gear box or a used one? thanks in advance.

you must have ragged the car with those hard shifts lol i sometimes tend to shift hard when im going at speed you know like in the fast and furious movies lol

but ye get a new gearbox...why would you want a used one and risk the same problem happening again...

i dont know the price though sorry

wow your box went and you didnt rag your car?

i hate to think what condition my gearbox is in right now lol

well if you do get a used one i would say get it checked out first by a mechanic or something to be sure its fine.

try scrapyards they usually have stuff for cheap that would be the first place to look

i have an idea why my gear box might of gone; an oil seal in the gear box might have been wear an tear and then caused a leek which then led the gear box to be dry and then the gear box to seize itself??? possibly

i am going to try scrap yards, the best one for parts is www.1stchoice.co.uk
