By the way i love this motor it does everything i need from a 8 seater family car

but the squealing is hurting my ears LOL.

The belts are under the hood and partially hidden by the cabin air intake which is a great big black thing in the centre of the compartment.

Your car may have two belts, one to the alternator and one to the air-con. Either way the adjusters are on either one of these components. Simply loosen the top and bottom lock nuts and slide in the appropriate direction to increase tension on the relevant belt. It really is just logic. The nuts may be difficult to see if the whole accessory tray is dirty so a good power clean wouldn't go amiss.

Truly though, and I mean no disrespect, if you couldn't work out where the belts were perhaps you should consider paying someone to do the job. It is a tight job that requires you to work from both top and bottom.

Hiya,

Thanks for the info, you see its my wifes dad thats going to do the work as he is quite good at putting his hands to anything but was unsure of where the belt was and he has never worked on a Previa:(

Its a shame really as ive worked on cars for over ten years but only in bodywork and painting and totally ignored the mechanic side of things:(
