Has anyone taken out the warrany extension?

If I purchase this cover, does it mean everything that was covered when I bought the car brand new is going to be covered? For example, would the Battery be covered (I know, batteries are relatively cheap...)?

Does anyone know where I can get a full written details of the warranty extension, without me hvaing to call them up?

I'm tempted to take this out though the price is rather steep at around £530 for two years.

Thanks.

There are two schools of thought

1: Put the money in the bank (not that you will earn much on it  ) and spend it on repairs if required (or a holiday at he end of two years)

2: Buy the warranty. Like all extended warranty, it is insurance backed and you have a list of parts covered. The Toyota extended warranties are excellent, there is nothing to touch them in terms of parts covered/benefits. You also get free club Toyota for two years (worth £110 ish) Car hire cover, Hotel cover, MOT test failure cover. There are people who sell extended warranties on the net, but I bet you cant find the same cover! Things to look out for are "Claim limits" Some only pay out a maximum sum per claim, some as low as £200, and a maximum number of claims you can make

For further information or to buy an extended warranty please call 0844 871 8024.

I would assume any part that is covered by the standard warranty would be covered by the extended warranty.

The MOT cover sounds like possibly the most useful part :

MOT test cover - a real bonus

In the unlikely event your vehicle fails its MOT test, a Toyota warranty will protect you against unexpected repair bills. As long as the vehicle is repaired and then passes, your warranty will pay for repairs or replacement of covered parts, up to the vehicle's purchase price. All you have to pay is the original MOT test fee and the first £10 of any repair costs covered by the Toyota warranty.

That should cover things like new brake discs which a number of Aygos seem to wear through fairly quickly. But I expect there is a fairly long list of items they consider 'consumables'.

Batteries from Toyota are £60.

Depending on how old the car is you might be better off waiting until the car is closer to the end of it's normal warranty before buying the extension.

Wear and tear is not covered, the worn brake disc scenario would not be covered. A componant needs to fail suddenly, not wear out, it's the same for all extended warranties

So they could argue a slipping clutch wouldn't be covered or an old Battery.

I expect you could argue almost anything on a car that has done 30k miles that breaks has 'worn out' rather than 'failed' and therefore not covered.

Also what could possibly be covered by the 'MOT Test Cover' that isn't a part that wears out then and wouldn't be covered any other way ?

In any case you really need to get hold of a list of exceptions to the policy to see if it's going to be worth it.

Re the clutch scenario, I would expect a clutch to last a lot longer than 30k miles.

Coming from my Impreza which it's standard clutch lasted 95k running up to 430lbs torque with no issues.

Unless the Aygo clutch is made from tin foil ? ;) Its only running 70lbs (ish) isn't it ?

You might expect that but unless there are published figures for these things the argument could be made that they have just 'worn out' and therefore not covered under these warranties. Same argument with the brake discs, I would expect more than 20k miles on the front discs but the Aygos all seem to be needing replacements around that time.

i've just had my break pads replaced under warrenty, and on monday it having the clutch changed under warrenty, i did have to ask them to do anything, they have done it all off there own backs when the car went in for a service.

New car warranty-NOT extended warranty......I suspect?

Surely the extended warranty should be the same as the warranty you are extending ?
