Steering Sqeal/groan 01 Avensis

hi just got my 01 avensis vermont and occasionally there is a squeal/groan from the steering wheel when parking or turning quickly. is this just some grease required and if so where needs greased and is it possible to do myself or is it something more serious. car has had a new short block fitted under warranty so it is fine

Is the noise coming from inside the car or outside - i.e. from within the engine bay?

(It is probably the power steering drive belt that is slipping)

no it sounds like its coming from the wheel inside the car like somet is rubbing or somet. can be quite loud. its like a jarring sound if that makes any sense

Yes I think this has happened with mine soon after Mr T replaced the steering column. It was sorted but unfortunately I do not know what they did with it and the sound has not returned. Sorry I cannot be of more help although I would suggest it could be a case of a dry joint or a linkage in the column which is not adjusted properly etc.
