Idle Up Button?

hi guys just next to my headlamp beam level control there is a button which says idle up,any one know what it does im scred to press it lol.

It is just a fast idle that you can operate when the engine is cold or if you have lots of load on the alternator etc.

Press it and see!

just tried it,anchorman do you think if this button has been on it could have been the cause to my problem regarding my power loss and malfunction light coming on?

If I remember correctly, it doesn't make much noticeable difference (if any) to engine idle speed unless the outside temperature is sub zero - then it jacks the idle up a bit.

Hmm.. I have tested the Idle Up Button... Indeed, it is very helpful when the outside temperature is below zero. The car starts much easier if the button is pressed. I have tried it a few times when the temperature was about -10 to -15 C... Works just fine. But when the engine is warm, the button has no more effect.. I haven't seen any difference between button on and button off when the engine is warm.

If it can maintain the idle speed at 850-950rpm it has no need to idle up. Try loading the alternator. Switch the main beam, heated rear window and the heater on full. If the revs drop try it then.
