1993 Celica Brakes Sticking

How ya folks... I've a 93 Celica GT1-16 (2.0), which until now has been super reliable. I had it in for an MOT here in NI there last week, and the lovely chap at the test centre said I needed to replace a couple of brake pipes - the ones that run from the junction box behind the engine manifold to the front callipers and also the pipes that run inside the plastic under-guard that take fluid to the equaliser valve at the rear.

Having replaced the pipes and bled the system - the brakes were 100% and passed the MOT no worries. Only now my trouble is that the system seems to be building pressure and jamming the calliper pistons on, causing the breaks to jam on. Had a glowing red disc on the side of the M1 out f Belfast the other night, only way I could get the brakes to release was to open the bleeder and let the pressure out of the system.

Car is fitted with ABS and uses single pot calipers on the front and rear, handbrake is shoe format inside drum/discs on the rear... any advice would be much appreciated...

Did you crush any flexi pipes. These can act like a one way valve if they are damaged inside.

Cheers for the reply, I have checked the flex pipes, which all seem grand, I've concluded that it is the master cylinder that is knackered. Least that's what I hope it is now. So will get it on this weekend and see if that cures the problem.

Watch this space,

Cheers

It could be the master cylinder but usually you can feel the pedal not wanting to return if its the master cylinder. If its a flexi pipe you want see it because the problem is inside the pipe. Good luck searching.
