Hey, i was wondering if anyone has installed a K&N 57i filter yet?

I spoke to guy on

who mounted it, but was hoping for some more info.

Is it hard to mount? Any performance difference?

AlexC has one. :)

Yes I do, and the installation wasn't very difficult. Just disconnect the original airbox, if you want to get the filter

further from the engine just add some extra pipe. After that you will have to build something which holds the

rubber pipe in the right position, so it won't just leave hanging. I installed two metal bars which are mounted

in the downside of the enginespace. After you've done it, just add the filter and everything should be fine :)

Best regards, Alex

Does anyone know if there is a panel K&N filter available for the Auris as I'm not very fond of getting rid of the air filter box, plus with the open cone there is always a better chance of water entering your cylinders... I tried locating a panel filter for the car on the K&N website, but according to it, there is none available so far. The engine (as obvious from my nick ;)) is 1.6 vvt-i.

Svet

Panel filter for Auris 1.6 is available, please look here! You have to search for the 2007 Auris products, it'll find it only if you do so...

Just found some installation instruction... I think it'll be more helpful than my pictures

BTW I understand that this filter from K&N isn't oil-free, so it needs to be oiled. It can be bad for the engine, especially if the car is new and you have the warranty. I suggest you to check that out, and if it's not dry filter, go for the dry one. One more point: K&N 57i seems to be only for the 1.4 engine. For 1.6 there's only panel filter. This is one more reason why you should consider not to buy it.

You asked about the performance difference in your first message, but i didn't see it before, so I'll answer you now: If you have 1.6 petrol engine, there won't be any difference in power. Only the sound. The performance difference will be if you'll buy some car with turbo engine and install the filter then. Because the turbo really needs lots of an extra cool air! :)

TRC suggests there's one for the 1.6 petrol aswell, although i cannot find it on the K&N site.

I'll contact K&N per e-mail to verify.

Thanks!

Is this the one you are looking for, brother? ;) You should search for 2007 Corolla in orer to get it ;)

But will it fit on Auris? Not necessarily, if it's in the Corolla -list...

On the picture from TRC, it sure looks like an Auris engine space, however i don't know how the Corolla looks like.

When you go the to the TRC website, you click Toyota --> Auris/Axio, and it brings you to a website full of Auris stuff.

So it says Corolla, but everything there is for an Auris.. just look at the bodykits - i read something about Auris being called Corolla in some countries.

BTW alexC, you have it and you have a 1.6l engine.. whats up with that? :)

Guys, remember - Auris is nothing but a renamed Corolla, aiming for the younger car owners like us who don't want to drive a "granny's car" :P In Australia they don't even have the Auris, just because name there hasn't been changed - same car, just called Corolla again ;)

Alex, if you take a look at the URL provided by ge00000, you will notice it says Corolla _e14_e15/_axio_auris_engine and after opening the website, you can read this:

57i High Performance Sport-Luftfilter performance air filter

Artikelnummer: TRCE15-0633X Only Auris D-Cat Diesel 2.2l 177PS

199,95€

57i High Performance Sport-Luftfilter performance air filter

Artikelnummer: KN-57-0674 (Auris Benzin 1.4l & 1.6l)

As you can see from the URL I pointed to, it's exactly a 57i K&N filter

Yes, but still - if you search on the partnummer 57-0674 on the K&N website, and go to the bottom to see the vehicles it goes on, it only says Auris 1.4l... :(

I think this shouldn't be a problem - after all, you are not trying to fit a panel filter in the air filter box to worry if it would fit or not. You are just attaching a cone filter to the pipe, removing the whole box, so I don't see a problem.

Yes I know. I just thought that it possibly won't fit because of the difference in wideness...

I ment the amount of air supplied, im guessing the demand for a 1.6 liter engine would be higher than 1.4, so they should be different..

Hello, my friend, and welcome to TOC. Unfortunately I can't answer your question (doubt any European Auris owner could) as the Auris doesn't come with a bigger petrol engine than the 1.6 Dual vvt-i (1ZR-FE) (neither does Corolla), so I doubt anyone could be certain.... What comes to my mind is measure the diameter of the inlet pipe of your filter, then some of us could measure the diameter of a 1ZR-FE and if it is the same, then I guess it would fit.

Regards,

Svet

Welcome to the club! I suggest you to buy some original filter. Just measure the diameter,

go to the shop which is selling tuning parts and ask for some good dryflow filter which has

the right diameter for your car :)

Best regards, Alex

BTW I think there are Corollas with 1.8 engine in some countries..
