im now looking to get a gearbox for it, are all the 1 litre ones the same?

ive found one for a good price near me off a 2001 1.0 yaris, will this fit?

If not how do i find out which one will?

Alex,

Regret that I can't say for sure, but my 2000 Yaris was built in Japan and later they started building them in France.

Now I can't say for sure, but if both cars are from the same country than you have a very good chance. There were no major changes to the Yaris from 1999 - 2003.

Although the cars from the two countries are outwardly similar, there are component differences that you wouldn't expect - for example even though the steering wheels look the same, they are not interchangeable as they have different fittings onto the steering column. Why? I've no idea, but its true - as I found out when I thought of replacing it with a "Toyota leather rimmed accessory" wheel.

So if the two cars are from different countries, they may be different.....

If you can see the new gearbox, then have a look around where it attaches to the engine. If you count the bolts that connect them together and where they are - then it might help you guess whether the two parts will fit and bolt together....

i think i'll take the old gearbox with me and then i can directly compare them.

Cheers
