Aaaah! The Agony!

I changed my indicator bulbs on my E12 from the eggy look to some chrome ones that I bought from eBay.

The seller did of course send me some ba15s instead of bau15s, so that I had to remove one pin to make them fit into the socket. Fair enough, it can be done, but it's not ideal.

The problem is of course getting the bulbs out... It seems like toyota has such faith in the OEM bulbs, that they expect that they won't ever need replacing! The fuel distribution is placed directly behind the right hand side light, and it requires really small hands to be able to release the socket. The left hand side is of course a bit easier, since the Battery is placed a few millimetres behind the lamp.

The right hand side was changed within 10 minutes, but the left hand side took me 45 minutes. After mounting the socket and connecting the wires, the left hand side did of course not work.

What did I learn from this experience? NEVER buy cheap crappy bulbs from eBay, because you would never want to change the bulbs ever again! Secondly, always connect and check the bulb before mounting them onto the lamp.

Now my plan is to get some Philips SilverVision bulbs that cost four times as much as the eBay ones, but I think they're worth it...
