1.3 And 1.0 Are The Doors The Same?

As above really, im looking for a passenger side rear door for my 1999 1.0.

There seems to be quite a few 1.3's being broken near me an i wanted to know if they were the same.

If so, what years did they change etc?

Also, will the 1.3 rear axle fot the 1.0?

Cheers

Again - as per my last note Alex ref the gearbox - there is a risk that if the two cars come from different countries (Jap vs France), then they may have hinge different mounting points or locking points. Sounds daft but be aware of the risk...

Irrelevant for you with a "Mk 1 Yaris" but someone's pointed out elsewhere for example that the new model Yaris is built in France for all models sold in the UK except for the 1.8SR - which is only made in Japan and is shipped from there. They say that if you see one in a showroom and compare it to a French built other model, you can see many subtle differences, you would never expect...

One way to check is by looking at the first letter of the "VIN" number or chassis number.

If it starts with a J, then the car is from Japan.

They use multiple letters for France - my new French built Yaris starts with a "V", but Mk1 French Yaris's may have a different letter.

Basically, if the first letter of your chassis or VIN number matches that of the donor car, you should be OK....

If its different, there's a risk....

If you find a door off a 1.3 then so long as it's the same year it should fit ok. You could allways ask the breakers yard to let you buy it, take it home and try it.

If it won't fit just take it back for a refund. I've yet to meet a breaker who won't let you do this.

Good luck. ;)

As for the rear axle, the 1.0 and the 1.3 both have rear drum brakes, so in theory both axle's should be the same from the same year car.

Hi! I left my car parked in narrow street and when I came back I found to my utter horror a largish dent on the driver's door with a few fine scratches across it. Since I have no idea who did it, I can only assume that someone had tried to reverse and bumped into my car making a 140 deg. angle dent towards the centre of the door. I am absolutely disgusted with this person who did this to my lovely car and left me to find it!!

I took it to a local garage where they looked at it and said that as the door was so thin, and the dent was too large to be filled in and painted over, it would be best to find a matching door to replace this one and then painting it over. They're waiting for the door to be found before giving me a price.

I know very little about car repairs, so it be very helful if someone could tell me whether this is a common process and if it will affect the value of the car? Also how much can I expect to be charged for this repair? Are there any questions I should ask the garage?

Many thanks

Murlal

Hi, it would probably be better if you could ring round some breakers yards youself and buy a replacement door.

Even better if you can get the same colour!

If you get one and it needs painting, i would geuss it would be around £100 - £200 depending on who does it, then get your local garage to fit it afterwards if you can't do it yourself.

Good luck. ;)

Same as that... A new door skin, profesionally fitted, painted etc is around a thousand beer tokens!
