k so i have bought a new aygo blue, while im waiting for it to be delivered i hav been given the demo model aygo platinum which i rather like! oh dear!! lol it has a leather steering wheel and i was wondering can u buy a toyota leather steering wheel as an option or extra? altho my dealer told me i cudnt i dont quite beleive him, its just leather! i understand u may hav to change the whole wheel cos of the airbag but surely its possible? it just feels like ur driving a car and not a toy! haha :D

I stumbled on an AYGO Platinum in a scrap yard.

Managed to get one (minus airbag) for £40.00.

You use your own airbag anyway.

It does make a difference. My wife has just bought an AYGO and the standard wheel feels odd.

Bit of a pain to fit though.

Well, more scary due to the airbag. You reeeeely don't want it going off in your face.

Fit it carefully using THESE instructions.

Looking at those instructions the dealer should only be charging you for 0.5 hrs labour so you'd probably be better off getting them to do it.

You might need to tack the job on the end of a service if you don't buy the wheel from the dealer though else they won't be keen on doing it.

What does a Toyota dealer charge per hour ?

Wouldnt effect warranty as its an official Toyota part.

Good idea would be to PM 'Parts King' and get a part number for the steering wheel, then give your dealer that number and find out how much it is. 99% its going to be more than the £142 Parts King has stated he could sell you it for above.

So all in all probably best ordering from him then taking to your Toyota dealer or another garage and getting it fitted

PS the sports interior pack wheel IS the same as the platinum wheel....and an absolute bargain...top quality, thick and with great leather....I think the way to make anything feel special is to throw a bit of money at the human interface bits...hence the wheel and gear knob in the platinum, the nice seat trim and infact the Apple keyboard I'm using with my work PC at present!!!

lol it was a little bit of sarcasm mixed with im honestly not sure cos i never heard of parts king haha, im new to all of this forum stuff. i barely come on here...well il hav to check out this months pay cheque and let ya kno if its affordable this month, if not defo next :) hehe sorry for the dumbness i already oredered the gear knob thats nice n thick too ;) got leather seats so im sure the steering wheel will top it right off :) thanx guys 4 all ur help...il PM u when i know im defo gonna order it but i will at some point defo!! :) x

lol maybe thats why my dealer told me otherwise :( boo hoo... all the wheels look the same size...why wud they be different? surely toyota cud make more money if they had more options to put on every model? lol x

I was talking to one of TGB's staff yesterday and they are going to look into this problem of certain vehicles NOT having this part listed for general fitting. There maybe some delay in finding out. I will post up here as soon as I have any info. In the meantime PM me with your Reg and I will check for suitability

There is good news and bad news

The Toyota catalogue I use was incorrect If I told you this steering wheel DID NOT fit your car, I was wrong (or the catalogue was)

Just as additional info: The Platinum & Black Aygo has a factory fitted leather wheel, which is different to the accessory steering wheel, are you still with me

So here is the accessory steering wheel (sorry it is shown on a LHD car)

This steering wheel is available within a few days at the above price, HOWEVER there has been a pricing issue with the part, it is currently too cheap and the product department at Toyota will be increasing the price. I will be ordering up a few steering wheels for stock, but we have a headstart on Toyota, so if you want one, PM me NOW otherwise you will have to pay the new price (whatever that will be)
