How do you check your level mate? Cause the dipstick reading shouldn't really change so long as it's on level ground. I presume you wipe it clean before putting it back in to check again?

yea normaly take it for about a 15-20mins drive, then i turn off engine go sit in the house for 15mins to let all the oil settle, then get stick out and wipe, put back in and then take out again,

new filter will be empty when doing oil change it holds some oil on start up . if you chuck in 4.5 litres you'll be fine.

toyota oil filter has a built in valve which keeps a certain ammount of oil in the top end , to aid start / stop wear and tear . so checking levels with a hot engine will be varied at every check .

best to do an oil change with a warmed up engine so it drains easier , put new filter on pour in at least 4 litres , run engine for 5 mins , switch off and allow to cool ,say 30 mins , check levels and add more until you reach the full line , try to do oil level check on a level plain.

So long as you've got oil on or above the minimum level on the dipstick, you ain't gonna seize up the engine dude.

All's good! B)
