Abs/traction Control Problems

was just wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with the above

basically ever since i brought my t sport tha ABS, VSC and TCS warning lights have been on, the traction control switch is inaffective.

i had the diagnostic check on tuesday and they told me i need a new steering sensor which is £311 plus fitting

has anyone else had any similar trouble if so how did you resolve

Yes, had the dash light problem intermittently. The 2nd dealer I went to replaced the ECU under warranty and there's been no re-occurrence in 2 1/2 years.

I take it as they want cash out of you that your warranty has expired?

Hope you get it sorted though, right pain in the teeth it is.

It might not work but it's worth a shot........

Set the steering wheel to straight ahead.

Disconnect the Battery for half an hour.

Re-connect the Battery and go for a drive.

The VSC is calibrated with wherever the wheels are pointing at the time as zero. So if the ECU has been reset when the wheels aren't pointing straight, then the car thinks it's turning when it's actually going straight, and gets confused. And the fault could well be the steering angle sensor.

i had this problem for about 3 months and it was in and out of the dealership constantly, they eventually traced it to some sort of sensor in the passenger wheel arch which was not sealed correctly and water could seep in and mess it up, not sure of the cost as mine was under warranty

thanks for the advice guys will try resetting the ecu again and check my wheels are straight

could be that sensor under the passenger arch i havnt been told where it is located
