Condensation

I'm writing this on behalf of my mum, she has a 02 Yaris and just recently it has been getting condensation on the inside of the windows, sometimes the car has only been left for an hour but we still have to wipe the windows inside. Is this normal? We've had the car for just over three years and it has only recently started this, wonder if theres something wrong with the seal?

My SR does this sometimes but only when the weather is really damp or 2 or more people in the car when it's raining.

Has it got a sunroof? These can start to leak with age resulting in a damp rooflining.

Other things could be one of the windows could be slightly down (esp on 5dr's if kids have been in), water could be getting in through the windscreen somewhere or even in the boot.

I would check all carpets and the boot aswell for water ingress. Take the spare wheel out and see if there's any water in the wheel well.

Check the carpets under the dash and near the pedals.

I had a similar problem on a golf i owned once and the problem was a missing rubber bung in the spare wheel well, resulting in water being let in and wetting the boot carpet. Drove me daft till i sussed it!!

Oh, check the bottom of the doors aswell in case the water drain holes are blocked. (easier to spot if you have just washed it)

One more thing to check is that your fresh air intake of your heater has not accidently been left on recirculate internal air. This can cause misting up. Hope it is nothing more complicated than that.

Make sure the vent is set for the windscreen/sides so the airflow can stop the windows misting up.

Also, check that the air is on fresh (To the right) and not recirculation (To the left). I know mine will mist up very quickly if it's on recirc for some reason.

If you're still having trouble, you can get anti-mist sprays and cloths; I got one from Halfords and it actually works pretty well!

Just a quick update, I took the car out earlier this afternoon/evening and set it to outside air. It seems to be much better so I hope that's the problem solved
