Heater Stopped Working

Hi guys, I'm a new Previa owner as I have just bought a 1998 GS model for £1000. It came without tax or MOT but it has just sailed through without a hitch so I'm well chuffed. Only thing is, the heater appears to have stopped working. I can't find any leaks so I don't think it's the matrix. I'm not that mechanically minded but I'm a bit short of cash. Any ideas?

Could be an air lock, sludge in the system causing a block or I am afraid is many times a sign of a head gasket on its way out.

Check the expansion bottle and start taking note of whether or not you are losing coolant. Also look for evidence of white smoke coming from the exhaust (obviously not first thing in the morning)

My advice with these cars is always to change the radiator as the block and then blow a hole through the bottom left hand corner. New rads are only £60 - £70 off eBay.

Give the cooling system a good flush with Citric acid. put 1 KG of this into the cooling system start and run the engine up to operating tempture + drive aroundthe bock a few times then let it sit for a few hours. Drain out , remove the thermostat housing and run a hose through the system and make sure to loosen the drain ***** on the engine block. Once you have done all this fit the new rad + a new thermostat, and refill the system with 50% antifreeze and 50% distilled water.
