Hi All,

Need some advice from you guys/gals.....took my mum's Corolla for a MOT today. Unfortunately, it failed, a few minors (wipers, bulb), but also need a new ball joint. Got quoted £130 for the work, which is OK. But it also need a new Battery (£60) and the clutch slips. So given all these problems, I don't think it would be wise to repair...any thoughts ? If was to p/x it what would i get ? The MOT is still valid until next week. If I scrape it, would I get any money ?

It;s a N reg Corolla CD 5 door , 52k miles, not service history.

Thanks,

The cars trade value is probably £100, so PX price would be a gesture based on the profit in the car your looking at. As for scrap i don't know the value but it can't be much. If the rest of the car is solid and its costs you £400 all to put it right, i would keep it going as what else can you buy for £400 unless your very lucky, chances are you would get a similar vehicle that would need money spending on it in the short term.

If you spent the money and it lasted a year that would be a lot cheaper than the depreciation on a newer car!

Some pics all round would make it easier to give an opinion. :)
