P/s Light Popped Up!

Driving about tonite along with all the squeeks and messed up noises that are coming from the car, i had a glimpse at the clocks and saw a little P/S (Power steering) light come on. I fitted my shift light to the tacho wire on the ecu today and all was done fine to the right wire. However the P/S light came on for a short moment then went off. It then again when later driving came and then went again. Could something be an electrical fault? or should i get my power steering now checked out.

Really concerned as the car is getting worse day by day. The sounds of the brakes are worse than before after changing them. Car gives a new creaking sound as tho something metal is on its way out but nothing is on its way out which is weird. And now the P/S light is playing funny games. Any ideas, booked the car in to toyota for tuesday as im just lost on who to take it and get the matters sorted once and for all!

hi my p/s light comes on sometimes and it has stoped working twice but it is only when the engine has been idling for a period of time, i have been told it is when the p/s system around the steering column gets to hot when it is stud still or at a constant speed for a wile and then doesnt like sharp on sudden movements so it needs to cool down, for me it is when i am on a long stetch of road, possibly 8-10 miles and i have to cross a cattle grid between a mini round about and the motorway slip road, cant understand why there is one there needs taken out i think. not sure if this helps but it is another case of the p/s light.

Great advice mate, yea i think possibly that was the case, car was left on idling yesterday evening for a good while as i was fitting my shift light so had to stop start it so many times then took it for a long drive and was stuck in traffic. Hasnt appeared again tho. Checked the power steering fluid and its fine ;)

i hope it doesnt come back on as the warning lights can make any man ***** him self ! it does me every time. if you look in your manual it says something in there bout it, cant remenber what and which page number exactly but it settled my nerves a little.

Hi Far,

The P/S light also came popping out on my dashboard screen and when I opened the bonnet I realised that it was due to a short circuit. The Battery terminal got into contact with the main bonnet cover.

When I rectified it went off.
