Insuring The Pimp Mobile

Time to re-insure the RAV4 and it is a bit different spec to when I insured it this time last year with all the pimping.

Last Years premium was £228 - protected NCD, Biz Use, SP60. but no legal cover

Since then, added:

Front Spots (declared)

Rear Spoiler (declared)

Sports Exhaust (declared)

'Internal Changes' (declared)

Hi-Spec Sat-Nav (upto £750 or 8% of total value) (declared)

Standard Body Kit (declared - not sure if last time?)

Did a quote on confused.com to get price WITHOUT all that stuff and then WITH it all specified

Price WITHOUT declaration of all above - £213:- protected NCD, Biz use, SP60, Legal Cover, £250 Excess

Added ALL the above items - price shot up!! and same company wanted £222.

Just thought I would share - very surprised at the tiny difference - expecting to be ripped off.

Insuring my wife's 1.8 Rav4.2 last year, 4years NCD = €650.

Road tax (renewed yesterday) for one year = €551

It's called "Rip-off Ireland"

It surprises me as well, I went on Go Compare.com + it asked if your cars modified, amongst the listed mods was non standard exhaust system + ecu mods (my chip) as soon as i mentioned my Chip half the listed Companies wouldnt quote, so i think you did well

Number 2 RAV, with its 3SGTE was I think £130 - Dom& Pleasure, fully comp; limited to 5000 miles (as I have 4 motors available I spread the mileage across them)

Number 1 RAV was £230, but that has legal cover, full personal breakdown cover (mental issues excepted), fully comp.....and this car has the turbo engine and a host of other mods, alloys, brakes etc etc etc.

The mods don't seem to figure as much as in days gone by....perhaps as so many people fit alloys and so on nowadays.

I have just paid £440 for mine - 55reg petrol XT4. Fully comp, legal cover, courtesy car, business use and Him Indoors as a named driver. I have no no claims bonus on this policy as it is still running on my other cars. Not too bad I thought. :) I got it through Bells on Go Compare.com

Crue promised us photos of her new Rav, There was also mention of Bikinis + Ugg boots? If she happens to also have Photos of Polish bus drivers then i am sure they may be of interest to some of our members, along with white van man, and Derbyshire train drivers..:unsure:
