Advice Needed Please - Buying A Used Rav 4

HI guys,

I´d be really greatful for some advice.

I´m buying a used Rav 4D-4D XT-R 3dr, year 05, it's done 55,000 miles. The price is £7,000, and comes with 2 years warranty from Arnold Clark (that's who I´m buying it from), and 6mths road tax. Basically, I´d like to know if that´s a good deal. I know the miles are high, but with it being a Toyota diesel I figured that number wasn´t really too bad.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Jie3 and welcome to the club. I'm a fairly new member too (also to RAVS) - but the advice I've been given to date by other members has been most generous - and brilliant! As for your prospective purchase... Well as you prbably know Arnold Clark has a very good reputation as a dealer (My RAV originally came from him - and passed on to our Agent here in Orkney) As for the mileage - well, we all know diesels go forever if properly/regularly maintained, and as for the rest of it, then if you look at the 'back numbers' here you'll see other members vehicles seem to be clocking up anything up to 250K - and they're sti  ll happy with 'em! Toyota the marque has a damn good reputation for reliability/durability anyway, so if you've had a good test drive (and know the obvious things to look for when doing this with anys/h vehicle), then personally I'd say 'go for it'. The market is very 'slow' at the moment, so maybe it might be wise to hang on until a few more replies come in from these VERY knowledgeable guys n' gals? Anyway, the very best of luck, and hope we'll be hearing from ye again in the future when you've made your decision.

Not saying it will ever happen to the car you intend to buy but just so that you are aware, have a read of this thread.

Good luck  Sure you will have years of happy motoring with your RAV :yahoo:

PS. And we love pictures  :D

Thanks guys, that's given me plenty to think about.

I'll let you know how I get on, and I'll be sure to post some pics.

Thanks for the welcome.
