I'm buying a HID conversion from HIDS4U.CO.UK .

Has anyone any advice on the best to install ?

I think the Battery side is easier but the drivers side looks like a big problem.

It's going into a 53 2.0 d4d.

any help would be appreciated,

thanks.

To t6d,

I purchased 35w Pro Plus kit with 5000k bulbs. If you go for higher rated bulb ex: 6k or 7000 bulb you will have distinct blue tinge to your lights, the 5000k bulbs give off a clear white light. As to fitting kit a lot of people will tell you to remove bumper, don't. All you need to do is take your time, n/s is straight forward to fit. The o/s headlamp is the pig, you need to loosen bumper & headlamp unit to fit new bulb. You have two retaining bolts at the top & bottom of rear edges of o/s bumper, the top one being just behind inner wheel liner. Once you have these removed, you will find black locating bracket (plastic) fixed to wing take this off. You will need to find something suitable to hold wing away from body at this point so as not to damage wing or bumper, i use rubber body block from local paint shop. If you take your time & gently move headlight around a touch you will be able to fit new bulb assembly.

If you prefer to remove whole bumper, you will find lots of little 10mm bolts holding bumper on, can say for certain most of these will snap off on an 03 model. Hope this helps.

Regards, Beagh.

PS: Take your time carrying out work, good luck.

A mechanic friend of mine and myself put in mine last week. Maybe we were lucky, or just didn't mind the skinned knuckles, but was able to replace without removing anything. I went for the 6000k one. Definitely don't go higher then that. We also adjusted the headlight alignment as it had initially been pointing too low. I'm very happy with it.

To t6d,

Fitted units to brackets on inner wing suspension strut towers. Away from heat & protected by eng-bay covers.
