'a Change Of Plugs Can Make A Big Difference..'

I changed the spark plugs on my Yaris T-Sport over the weekend and what a difference - It's smoother, more eager, and has a much crisper engine note.

I noticed they weren't changed on the last service I had recently so I thought I'd check them myself (10 minute job), only to find the electrodes were a bit pitted and they were not the correct ones as per the handbook. The last owner had put the wrong plugs in for the 1NZ-FE engine, they had put in plugs for the 2NZ-FE (1.3L)!

I only fitted standard Denso ones (£10 inc postage!), but as i mentioned above, the difference was very noticable (unlike the usual placebo effect).

My advice for every Yaris (or any modern Toyota for that fact) owner would be to check the plugs yourself, and make sure they are looking healthy and are the RIGHT TYPE for YOUR ENGINE - if only for peace of mind!

Is there a good link for a correct list of service parts. I've got a ph1 D-4D and a ph1 1.0 vvti. All too often when I ring the factors I here something like "there's two types (not brands) of plug, which does yours take?" or recently when i was after pads for the 1.0, "we've got three different sizes, what's the diameter of your disc?"

I'm not knocking the factors for endevouring to supply the right part, but is there a good resource somewhere?

PM Kingo :king: when you want discounted GENUINE parts, then you don't have to faff around with factors  I just need your reg number or chassis number

The above link is good for giving part numbers IF you use your chassis number to select parts

Kingo

Just in regards to spark plugs, the site I got mine from was carsparkplugs.com. You put in the model and year and it just shows the right plugs - seems pretty accurate too.

The D4-D wont have spark plugs but for the 1.0 vvti it will have the ones you need (same as 1.5L T-Sport).

As for brakes, etc, I usually get a good independant Toyota specialist do it. Or if I can be bothered I will measure the discs and inspect the pads (removing them if necessary) then hunt them down on the internet.
