Ive recently bought a Celica T sport 53 reg. Its done 90,000 on the clock.

Ive been in a bit confusion over whether it has a timing belt or chain?? im pretty sure it is a chain but some people have told me it needs changing at around 100k and others you never have to change it.

can anyone advise me here?

Its a chain driven engine

Kool, so do you think it would possibly need tightening in the 100k service then or do they change the whole chain?

I believe that the chain wouldnt typically be changed unless your having some major work done and the engine is being rebuilt. I dont think you need to do anything, in my experience the if the chain is on its way out it will begin to rattle and show some signs thats gonna go, unlike a belt which will just snap. However if your unsure putting a quick call into your local Mr T wouldn't hurt.
