No Dipped Headlights, Full Beam Ok?

Hi All

I have a 1994 Hilux Surf SSRG (Jap Import). I have an issue which has just started - my front sidelights come on ok, but dipped headlamps don't. If I switch to full beam, they work correctly except that the blue indicator on the dash doesn't come on. All other lights are fine.

Fuses are ok, but have no idea where to start looking. Anyone able to suggest the likely suspects?

Thanks

Try a new headlamp bulb first. It is possible both front dipped elements have blown, sometimes through coincidence, but ocassionaly through overcharging. Try a new headlamp bulb first

Kingo

It'll be the contacts on the stalk switch, common problem.

Remove the steering column shroud and give the contacts a rub with some fine wet or dry paper.

mmm

I looked at the bulbs and they appear to be ok. (what a pain trying to undo all the clips to get the radiator grill off)

When I turn the switch on the stalk, turning once brings on the sidelights (work fine)

2nd turn - I can hear the relay in the fusebox under the bonnet, but no headlights

push forward the stalk and headlights come on full beam as they should, but no blue light on the dash

So I'm still flummoxed :(

Anything else I could look for?

Thanks
