Small Port To Big Port

Hi guys,

My GTI is the early spec version and it has small ports which in the far future may notbe big enough for high power levels.

Out of curiosity, is it possible to convert it to have large ports or would it just be easier to buy a late spec 4A-GE engine?

The Early TVIS engine are the BIG PORT ones. (Pre-1989)

The ones after 1990 are the Non Tvis Small port engines.

Theirs little difference between these engines performance wise.

When you come to swapping the engines, alot of the wiring and sensors are different.

You cant put a Small port head on a Tvis engine (Or vise versa). From what i remember hearing, their is some oil pipe or sumat that is present on the small port and is non existant on the big port. Someone told me about a lad that did it, The bottom end went on start up lol.

Thats good! I heard that the big port was better for higher power numbers.
