Light Behind Heater Dials

Ok so its no biggie but its annoying me.

My E12 T3 has three heater dials - direction - fan speed - temp.

Last night I noticed that the direction dial was not illuminated and half the fan speed dial was in darkness also. This I take it means I've got a bulb out.

Has anyone any experience in changing these bulbs?

Any pointers/instructions would be great. Bulb type would also be good.

If this is in the centre console, then all you should need to do is use something like a flathead screwdriver and gently pry at it even;y around the edges. It will eventually 'pop' away and there you should be able to get at the bulbs.

Try to locate the clips before you do anything because you dont want o break anything.

A careful hand is whats needed here!:thumbsup:

around the gear stick u have to clip off the cover [plastic] once removed there shud be 2 visible screws you need to take out [just below the wee tray]

then remove the fan speed knob [just pull it off] then remove the screw behind it

then use screw drivers of knives to pry off the whole cover

now comes the really annoying bit ...

.... you have to reach around behind the dials and unclip the whole thing - use a wee mirror if u can find one

this part you really need to do for urself cause its too hard to explain and i havent had to replace the bulbs in like a year so this part is fuzzy - but im sure ull work it out :)

2nd time ive had to replace them - wile annoying lol

Thanks guys.

Does Toyota get some pleasure at making any bulb change a complete pain.

As the brighter nights are on their way I might leave this for a while although its going to eat away at me until I get it done.

It could also just be a loose wire as i had the same problem after changing ny cd player.

I'd recommend putting down some wrags under where your working on taking out the bulb as it can easily fall down when your removing and replacing it and it's a very awkward to get it out once it falls around the gearstick. I fixed one on a friends car but managed to break/blow the one to it's left in the process so had to fix that one too. Take your time with it use a tweezers to take them out and put them in.

Hi, Had the same problem with exactly the same bulbs, after reading on here how to change them about six months ago decided not to bother, this Sunday night low and behold they light up again, must be a loose connection somewhere I guess? any bright spark(excuse the pun) have any clues as to location or is it panel off job again.
